Rajkumar made sure that Vir did research like any other actor and accepted the role on his merits. Interestingly, Vir was not the first choice for the role of ‘Pritam and Pedro’. Rajkumar revealed that the team had spent a lot of time searching for the right actor Vir, who had kept an eye on the conversations going on at home and in the office, decided to throw his hat in the ring. But his father made it clear that there would be no special treatment. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Hirani said, “I told him, ‘If you want to try, do it. Meeting Avinash Arun. Reassure him because he controls it. I can’t force myself. Even if it’s my film, you should try it. Don’t think you’re going to get it because you’re my son.’”
