India’s young left-arm spinner Sree Charani became the No. 1 ranked bowler in Women’s T20Is after a great run in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup. The 21-year-old climbed to the top of the ICC rankings after picking up 10 wickets in just three matches, making him the leading wicket-taker in the tournament so far.Charani’s rise has been one of the biggest success stories of the World Cup. Having made his international debut a little over a year ago, he quickly established himself as a key member of India’s bowling attack. His recent performances against the Netherlands and South Africa have helped him overtake England spinner Linsey Smith at the top of the rankings.The Indian spinner’s biggest contribution came in successive matches. He took four wickets against the Netherlands in Leeds before following it up with a three-wicket haul against South Africa in Manchester. Those match-winning performances earned her enough ranking points to become the highest-ranked bowler in women’s T20I cricket.While Charani moved to No. 1, England’s Charlie Dean moved up to second place after taking five wickets in his first three World Cup matches. Former top-ranked bowler Sophie Ecclestone also improved, moving up to fourth position.The batting rankings remain unchanged at the top, with Australia’s Georgia Voll holding the No. 1 place.
