Re-NEET 2026: Dharmendra Pradhan urges students to remain fearless amid strict NTA rules
NEW DELHI: As 22 lakh students across the country gear up to appear for the NEET re-examination, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday urged them to appear fearlessly, confidently and without any anxiety or pressure.Pradhan, who was speaking at a yoga event held at Delhi University on the occasion of International Yoga Day, said he had complete and unwavering faith in the National Testing Agency (NTA), state governments, district administrations, the wider education fraternity and most importantly, the students themselves.“Today around 22 million students will sit for NEET after a while. They should sit without fear and without anxiety. I’m sure they’ll do well. My very best wishes to the students,” he said.Asking people not to do anything that could affect the mental health of children, Pradhan said the future of India’s new generation should not be played with.“Please don’t play with the future of the new generation of India. Don’t do anything that will affect the mental health of the children. After a few hours, the children will appear for the exam,” he said.“He appeals that we should not play with the future of the new generation of India. No one should make a joke of it. Nothing should be done to affect the mental health of children. In a few hours, students will appear for the exam,” he said.Without naming anyone, the minister said some “so-called responsible persons” had behaved on Saturday with “a wrong intention” that affected children, and urged them not to cause further distress.“At least if you are responsible, if you consider yourself a true citizen of India, if you represent the people of India, please take responsibility and don’t cause more distress to the children,” he said.Pradhan also said that while the NEET exam would be held on Sunday, the pending CBSE results would also be released very soon.“Out of nearly 17 lakh CBSE students, the results of about 15.5 lakh students are already out. The process for those students who had applied for re-evaluation, re-evaluation and verification is almost complete, and CBSE will release these results very soon,” he said.In a message to X, the National Testing Agency (NTA) urged candidates appearing for the re-examination to immediately download their new admit cards, saying the admit card issued for the May 3 exam would not be valid for entry. The agency said the re-examination admit cards have already been made available to all eligible candidates on its website and it has made “extensive efforts” to inform them through public notices, SMS alerts, emails and WhatsApp messages. However, some candidates were yet to download their admit cards by 7 pm on June 20, he said.“It is observed that some candidates have not yet downloaded their admit cards as of 7:00 PM on 20 June 2026. NTA has also sent the admit cards to the Whatsapp numbers of these candidates,” the agency said. The NTA also reminded candidates that entry to the centers would begin at 11:00 a.m. and close at 1:30 p.m., with no later entry allowed, and advised them to bring their admit card, a valid ID and two passport-sized photographs, avoid prohibited items, stay hydrated and arrive early considering the traffic. The NTA had canceled the May 3 NEET-UG 2026 exam amid allegations of a paper leak, and the government asked the CBI to conduct a thorough probe into the matter. The re-examination will take place on Sunday.
