Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 7 Live Updates. Sanjana crashed; more Indian action is forthcoming

Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 7 Live Updates. India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign gained more momentum on Day 6 as Gulveer Singh made history, Harjinder Kaur added another silver in weightlifting and the country’s boxers guaranteed at least three more medals with a dominant performance in Glasgow.

The biggest talking point of the day was Gulveer Singh, who became the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men’s 10,000m after producing a stunning silver-medal performance. Harjinder Kaur also continued India’s weightlifting success by finishing second in the women’s 69kg category, bettering the bronze medal she won at the Birmingham Games four years ago.

The Indian boxing team continued their good run, with Jadumani Singh, Preeti Pawar and Priya Ghanghas all reaching the semifinals to ensure the country at least bronze medals. While some athletes bowed out in boxing, swimming and athletics, there were encouraging performances in para swimming and lawn bowls as India’s medal hunt continued in several disciplines.

At the end of Day 6, India occupied the ninth spot in the medal standings with 12 medals, two gold, seven silver and three bronze—and will now turn its attention to another action-packed schedule on Day 7.

Several Indian athletes will compete for medals on Wednesday, including Sanjana in the women’s 77kg weightlifting final, long jumpers Sreeshankar Murali and Lokesh Satyanathan, shot putter Manpreet Kaur and steeplechase runner Parul Choudhary. The boxing ring will be busy again with six Indians, including Sachin Siwach, Sakshi Choudhary, Ankush Yadav and Jaismine Lamboria, looking to secure semifinals spots. India will also have representation in swimming, para athletics, para swimming and lawn bowls, making Day 7 another important opportunity to climb the Commonwealth Games medal table.
