The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the National Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2026 entrance test result today, July 16. Candidates who appeared for the medical entrance exam can now download their score cards from the official website, neet.nta.nic.in.According to the NTA, nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, which was held on June 21, 2026. Out of them, more than 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified for admission to medical, dental, AYUSH and allied courses.The agency said the results have been announced on time to ensure that the counseling and admission process for medical colleges begins as per schedule.
NEET UG 2026: Overview
NEET UG 2026 was conducted in 5,440 examination centers across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. The exam was conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese and Urdu.More than 58 percent of qualified candidates are women. The NTA also said that most of the best performing candidates are between 17 and 19 years old.
NEET UG 2026 toppers
The highest score of 715 out of 720 was jointly secured by Punjab’s Aryan Gupta and Haryana’s Panshul Bansal.A total of 138 candidates scored more than 690 marks while 19 candidates scored more than 700 marks.Among the top 138 candidates:
- More than 93 percent appeared for NEET UG for the first time.
- Around 99% are between 17 and 19 years old.
The top 17 candidates, who scored more than 705 marks, belong to Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
NEET UG 2026 Score Distribution
The NTA has shared the following score distribution:
- 19 candidates scored above 700 points.
- 1,492 candidates scored 650 points or more.
- 10,160 candidates scored 600 points or more.
- 90,780 candidates scored 500 points or more.
Qualified candidates by category
The number of qualified candidates in different categories is as follows:
- General: 2.91 lakhs
- Other Backward Classes Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL): 5.12 lakhs
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 1.59 thousand
- Scheduled Tribes (STs): 63,716
- General Economically Weaker Section (Gen-EWS): 95,026
- People with a reference disability (PwBD): 3,666
- People with disabilities (PwD): 303
The NTA said it completed the results process using a revised system that allowed multiple stages to run simultaneously.The timeline was as follows:
- Provisional answer key released on 25 June, with objection window open until 28 June.
- Scanned Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheets and recorded answers were displayed from July 13-15.
- Final answer key and result released on 16th July.
Details of the advice
The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will conduct counseling for the 15 percent All India quota seats in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). Counseling for the state quota seats will be done by the respective state authorities.The NTA has advised candidates to rely only on official websites for counseling updates and has warned them against fake calls, messages or websites claiming to offer admissions, block seats or improve score. The agency clarified that it never asks candidates for money or personal credentials.
