Ayodhya has become one of the fastest growing cities in India after the dedication of the Ram Mandir, attracting prominent investors and witnessing a huge boom in infrastructure. Bollywood celebrities are not far behind. Some of the biggest names to market in the temple town are Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor, who have found a foothold as the city transforms into a luxury, spiritual tourism and architectural hub.Amitabh Bachchan has made the biggest celebrity investment in Ayodhya so far, when he acquired his property which is said to be worth over Rs 90-100 crore. The former actor was also the first celebrity to sell luxury homes in the city.Its properties include an original plot of 10,000 sq. ft. worth around Rs 14.5 crore, purchased before the establishment of Ram Mandir, followed by a 5,372 sq ft parcel worth Rs 4.54 crore. Later he acquired a 25,000 sq. ft. near the development of Sarayu about 40 crores. Through his family company, AB Corp Ltd, Bachchan also bought 67 acres of land for Rs 35 crore. In addition, 54,454 sq. ft. a scheme has been registered in the name of Harvansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust, where a memorial dedicated to his father is being planned.Beyond the famous investment, Ayodhya is witnessing a major infrastructure overhaul, with projects worth around Rs 85,000 crore aimed at transforming it into a world-class travel destination. The city already has the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and the Ayodhya Dham Railway Station, while the 187 km Namo Bharat corridor connecting Kanpur and Ayodhya has also received approval, reducing the travel time between the two cities to about 90 minutes.The city’s long-term connectivity plans include the Rs 32,000-crore Kanpur-Ayodhya Namo Bharat Corridor and the Delhi-Ayodhya express train, which is expected to cover a 670-km journey in about two hours. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has allocated an additional amount of Rs 150 crore in its latest budget to promote infrastructure development and maintenance of places for pilgrims visiting the holy city.As mentioned earlier, Ranbir also entered the Ayodhya luxury market and bought a 2,134 sq.ft. Ft. This money comes in front of the actor who portrays Lord Ram in ‘Ramayana’. Speaking about the purchase, Mr Kapoor described it as a “divine call” and said he saw it as a long-term investment that could become a family heirloom.Ranbir’s next ‘Ramayana’ is slated to release in theaters on Diwali.
