Famous Tamil music composer and poet Vairamuthu has received the 60th Jnanpith Award in the year 2025 at a grand ceremony held in the national capital. Awarded by former Union minister Karan Singh, the country’s highest literary honor recognizes Vairamuthu’s contribution to Indian literature. Speaking to the media after receiving the award in New Delhi, Vairamuthu expressed his gratitude, saying that this honor belongs to all Tamil people. As Nakkheeran said, he said, “Jnanpith is the highest honor in Indian literature. It can be considered as the Nobel Prize of Indian literature. After 24 years, this award is back in Tamil. I give this respect to every Tamil. Every Tamil should celebrate this as a reward for their home.
