Ilaiyaraaja took to his X handle (formerly Instagram) to share what he says is that his death was a loss and that Indian music lost its best voice. Ilaiyaraaja spoke about the difficult times that S. Janaki faced in his life. He said, “I was deeply saddened to hear about the death of beloved singer Janaki Amma. It is a shocking and sad news.” He also said, “He had an unbearable sadness in his life and was facing a lot of pain. It is very sad to think about the hardships he faced even though he brought so much joy to millions of people through his music.”
Ilaiyaraaja remembers how he always strived to be perfect
Looking back on the many songs they worked on together, Ilaiyaraaja said that Janaki never accepted anything less than perfection. He explained that whenever he wants the song to have a certain feeling or sound, he keeps practicing until he gets it right. He said, “I always worked hard to achieve the melody I wanted in each song. Janaki Amma matched that dedication with equal determination and would continue to refine the song until it reached perfection.” In many ways, I would say he exceeded my expectations.”Ilaiyaraaja said that there can be no other singer like S. Janaki for his unique voice, his attitude and devotion to music. He ended the message by praying for his soul to rest in peace and said his music and legacy will continue to inspire musicians and music lovers for years to come.
