Delhi University (DU) has received an overwhelming response to its undergraduate admissions for the academic session 2026-27, with over 1.9 lakh aspirants registering through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). As the admission process enters its crucial phase, the university will release the first seat allotment list on July 16.University officials said that while over 1.90 lakh candidates have completed registration, over 1.64 lakh applicants have already submitted their syllabus and college preferences, bringing the admission process closer to the first round of seat allotment.
More than 1.64 lakh candidates completed presentation of preferences
According to the university, a total of 1,90,645 candidates have registered for degree admissions under CSAS. Of these, 1,64,098 applicants have completed Phase II, which requires candidates to map their subjects and submit their preferred courses and universities. The university has asked candidates who have not yet completed the process to do so before the deadline. Once the submit window is closed, the preferences will be automatically locked and no further changes will be allowed.Officials have repeatedly advised students to review their options carefully as admissions to subsequent rounds will depend on preferences submitted during this stage.
A single correction window has been opened for applicants
Respond to requests from candidates who reported errors in their application forms, University of Delhi has opened a unique correction center on the CSAS portal. The correction window allows applicants to correct errors in information already submitted during registration. The facility was introduced after the university received several representations from students seeking an opportunity to correct inadvertent mistakes before they move forward with the admissions process. The correction period runs parallel to the final phase of degree registration and presentation of preferences.
Admissions to 73 degree programs
For the academic session 2026-27, Delhi University offers admissions to 73 degree programs in 69 colleges and academic departments. The university has made 71,624 places available through the CSAS admissions process. The first seat allotment will be published on 16th July
On July 16, the first award list for undergraduate admissions will be published. Applicants who receive a place must accept the award and complete the admission procedures within the established calendar. After paying the admission fee, students can freeze their allotted seat or choose the upgrade option to be considered for a higher preference program or college in subsequent rounds. Those who opt for an upgrade will also be able to rearrange their highest preferences before the next allocation cycle.
The virtual wallet has been introduced to simplify the payment of fees
To facilitate the admission process, the university has introduced a virtual wallet mechanism for payment of fees.Under this system, candidates who get an upgraded seat after paying the admission fee in an earlier round will have the amount adjusted automatically. The initiative is expected to eliminate repeated payments and simplify the financial process for multiple rounds of counselling.Delhi University aims to complete two rounds of undergraduate admissions before the start of the new academic session on July 28.
Postgraduate and professional admissions are also progressing
Along with undergraduate admissions, the university has continued the counseling process for graduate and professional programs. The third allotment list for two-year postgraduate courses, including performance-based programs such as Master of Fine Arts (MFA), Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd), Master of Physical Education (MPEd) and Music, has been released.
