NEW DELHI: India assistant coach: Ryan ten Doeschate didn’t hold back after India’s poor run in overseas T20Is continued with a losing streak. After being whitewashed 0-2 by Ireland, India have now lost the five-match T20I series against England 0-3 with one match remaining. Ten Doeschate says that India must first admit that they are not doing well abroad. “We’ve talked a lot about adaptation, it’s easy to say we need to adapt, it’s easy to say but actually it’s a point now where we need to understand the process, what it takes to make those adaptations,” Ten Doeschate said.“I don’t want to stand up and defend the players and be overly critical, but the responsibility is on the players who have the mindset to accept the fact that it is very bad and look at the evidence in front of them,” said the coach. This is the first time since February 2019 that India have lost two consecutive bilateral T20I series. Earlier, they lost 2-1 to New Zealand before losing 2-0 at home to Australia.England also created history by beating India in a bilateral T20I series in two or more matches for the first time. India have won five of the last six series between the two teams, while one ended in a draw.Ten Doeschate said the players should focus on succeeding in challenging conditions abroad instead of relying on performances at home.“The psychological and mental challenge for the group is to accept the fact that we are lacking in foreign conditions and tell the players that there is a big prize two years down the line in Australia. Do we want to be a team that can smash 250 in India and look good hitting 80m sixes at the Eden Gardens or do you want to go to places like Manchester, Southampton,” said Ten things little Manchester, Southampton line is different.“Those are the areas where we want to be a team to be successful in different situations and do we have the mentality to make changes. That’s the mental challenge and that’s what we need the players to do,” he added.India will look to avoid a 4-0 scoreline when they take on England in the fifth and final T20I at Southampton on Saturday.
