Ahmed Khan‘s multi-starrer action-comedy ‘Welcome to the Jungle,’ with an ensemble cast led by Akshay KumarSuniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, has entered the second weekend at the box office amidst the biggest controversy in the industry. As expected, YRF’s big budget ‘Alpha’, starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Bobby Deol, has opened wide and is starting to dominate the lion’s share of the shows and the results of ‘Welcome to the Jungle’s Day 8 and Day 9 numbers are already showing. Even so, the film’s first-week run has made it good enough to continue inching towards the symbolic Rs 100 crore mark, even as its day-to-day collection continues to dwindle.With ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ going into its second weekend, it is expected to close somewhere in the net of Rs 2-3 crore. Day 10 (second Sunday) may pick up slightly as the weekend continues, perhaps in the Rs 2.5-3.5 crore range. The collection in the second weekend is expected to settle between Rs 1-2 crore nett per day as the film’s show continues through the week.
‘Welcome to the Jungle’ Week 1 Earnings
Welcome to the Jungle opened last week, with a house fee of Rs. 63.75 crore with an international revenue of Rs. 93.45 crore, supported by a strong weekly growth which peaked on Sunday at Rs 24.75 crore. A steady improvement on Monday took the collections to Rs. 8.50 crore, followed by a surprising 8.8% on Tuesday to raise Rs. 9.25 million. The film entered the week, down 30% on Wednesday to Rs. 6.15 crore, before reducing it to Rs. 5.50 crore on Thursday at 9,917 shows.Overall, Week 1 closed with a domestic revenue of Rs. 93.15 crore before entering its second week.
‘Welcome to the Jungle’ Day seven of the collection
Day 8 saw the much-anticipated Friday correction kick off as ‘Alpha’ entered the theatres. The film grossed Rs. 4.50 crore net, which represents a decline of 18.2% from Thursday’s Rs. 5.50 crore, on a meager 7,557 shows. This took the film’s total revenue in India to Rs. 116.27 crore and the all India total to Rs. 97.65 million. Foreign collections rose by Rs 1.00 crore, taking the total foreign collections at Rs. 27.45 crore and worldwide to Rs. 143.72 million
