The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has issued an important update for the candidates participating in the counseling process of UGCET 2026. The authority has clarified that candidates who could not get into their preferred colleges and courses before the deadline will get another chance after the seat allotment result is announced.According to KEA, the last date to register preferences, also known as entry of options, has now ended. However, candidates need not worry about the deadline as they will be allowed to enter their options during the next option entry window after the results of the mock allotment are declared.
KEA issues clarifications on options entry
In an official release, H. Prasanna, IAS, Executive Director, KEA, said that candidates who have not yet submitted their preferences will be allowed to do so after the release of the mock seat allotment result.The authority has advised candidates to use this time to prepare a list of their preferred colleges and courses so that they can complete the option entry process quickly when the next window opens.
Modification of options will also be allowed
KEA has also confirmed that after the first round of Mock Seat Allotment, candidates will have an opportunity to:
- Introduce new university options and courses.
- Modify the options already presented.
- Submit options if they haven’t entered a preference before.
This means that both candidates who wish to change their choices and those who missed the previous deadline will be able to participate in the options entry process.
What should candidates do now?
Candidates are advised to check KEA official website regularly for updates regarding mock allotment schedule and re-opening of option entry window.KEA has assured candidates that they will have another opportunity to complete or update their preferences, and there is no need to worry if they were unable to submit their choices by the initial deadline.
