The race will start today at 6:00. 30 PM with Mercedes’ George Russell starting from pole position again and sharing the front row with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Qualification: Chaos, Controversy and Bright Pole by Russell
The Red Bull Ring may produce one of the shortest laps in Formula 1, but qualifying is rarely straightforward. Q1 and Q2 produced their share of surprises, then came a dramatic Q3.Max Verstappen appeared on course to challenge for pole before losing control at Turn 9 and crashing into the barriers on his final flying lap. Yellow flags immediately waved on the circuit, forcing many drivers to react quickly. Russell, who was approaching the incident, lifted just enough to bring out a yellow flag before completing an incredible lap that eventually took pole position. The Mercedes driver was briefly under investigation after Ferrari questioned whether he had respected the yellow flags, but Antonelli and Russell confirmed that his lap was legal and the pole was standing. Charles Leclerc took advantage of Ferrari’s improved pace to take second on the grid. Lewis Hamilton completed an impressive Ferrari front-row challenge in third.Antonelli, who looked capable of fighting for pole all weekend, mistakenly believed that double yellow flags had been shown and aborted his last flight of the lap, placing fourth.Verstappen’s first lap was good enough for fifth despite ending qualifying in the barriers.

Verstappen’s Disappointing Day
Austria is Red Bull’s home race, but Saturday quickly turned into disappointment. After showing a good pace in Q3, Verstappen’s late crash ended any hopes of fighting for pole position. While unharmed, the Dutchman will start fifth, leaving him with a lot of work to do on Sunday.
The race ahead:
Everything is pointing towards another interesting Mercedes vs Ferrari battle.George Russell started from pole position looking to reduce Antonelli’s championship lead. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton had Ferrari’s strongest qualifying results in weeks.Antonelli still held the pace of the race to challenge for the win. And Verstappen, despite starting from fifth, remains one of the best Formula 1 racers at the Red Bull Ring. With overtaking opportunities into Turns 1, 3 and 4, Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix promises more action than Monaco.
