WB Gram Panchayat Recruitment 2026: The Department of Panchayats and Rural Development, Government of West Bengal has started the registration process for the WB Gram Panchayat Recruitment 2026 exam. The recruitment drive is underway to fill more than 11,000 vacancies in various posts in the rural administration system. Candidates can register through WBPRMS portal while the detailed recruitment notification is expected to be released shortly.The recruitment exam is meant for appointments to Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis and Zilla Parishads across the state. Selection will be conducted through various stages which include written examination, interview, aptitude test for applicable posts and document verification. Vacancies have increased significantly from the previous estimate of around 6,500 places.The vacancies have been extended to several postsThe recruitment covers posts like Gram Panchayat Karmee, Gram Panchayat Sahayak, Data Entry Operator, Panchayat Clerk, Nirman Sahayak, Executive Assistant, Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Lower Division Assistant, Technical Assistant, Cashier Assistant, Village Resource Person and IT Assistant.According to the recruitment details, the total number of vacancies has risen to approximately 11,000. Registration process started on 17th June 2026. Online application link is expected to be activated after publication of detailed notification.Eligibility criteria and age requirementsEducational qualifications differ by post. Gram Panchayat Karmee applicants must have passed Class 8, while Gram Panchayat Sahayak candidates require Madhyamik with at least 50 percent marks. Data Entry Operator applicants must have Madhyamik qualification along with Govt approved IT course certificate. Higher secondary qualification is required for the posts of Panchayat Secretary, while candidates for Executive Assistant should have a high school diploma with computer knowledge. A Diploma in Civil Engineering is mandatory for Nirman Sahayak positions.Applicants must be proficient in Bengali or Nepali in designated hill regions. Age limit is 18 to 40 years for general candidates, 18 to 43 years for OBC candidates and 18 to 45 years for SC and ST candidates.Exam pattern and salary structureThe written exam will carry 85 marks, with questions on English, Bengali, Arithmetic and General Knowledge including Rural Life and Rural Development. Depending on the post, candidates may also face interviews and skill tests.Monthly salaries vary by position, ranging from Rs. 17,000 for Panchayat Karmee, Group D and Peon posts to Rs. 92,100 for Nirman Sahayak publications. The posts of Executive Assistant and Stenographer have a pay scale of Rs. 28,900 to Rs. 74,500.
