Uttarakhand Ayurveda University protest: BAMS students raise water tank four years late

Students of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University climbed a water tank on Wednesday after they alleged that examination results have not been declared for the past four years, halting the academic progress of the institution. The protest at the university’s Harrawala campus later turned into a clash with the police, even as officials opened talks with the agitated students.The protest began with the students of the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) gathering in the campus and raising slogans against the delay in the declaration of examination results. They demanded that the university immediately release the pending results and conduct the examinations that have been stopped due to the delay.As the agitation grew, some students climbed a water tank inside the campus, while others staged a sit-in below, refusing to leave until their demands were met.

Four years late at the center of the protest

Students said they have been waiting for exam results for nearly four years, affecting their academic progress and delaying subsequent exams.A scuffle broke out between some protesting students and police personnel during the demonstration, he said PTI.Police officials later said there were talks with the students who had climbed into the water tank. according to PTIabout half a dozen students remained on top of the water tank as negotiations continued.University authorities also intervened as the protest continued. The vice-chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University, along with other university officials, held discussions with the protesting students in an attempt to break the deadlock.University officials are trying to resolve the impasse through dialogue while addressing students’ complaints about pending exam results and the delay in the academic calendar.
