The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) is planning to publish the NEET UG Counseling Schedule 2026 soon on the official website, neet.nta.ac.in. These best medical candidates would like to become MBBS or BDS doctors in a government hospital or college, so they need an official admission letter. Besides AIQ, 15% of total seats, counseling will be done in Government Medical and Dental Colleges, Deemed Universities, Central Universities, ESIC Medical Colleges, AFMC etc. State authorities will fill the rest of the 85% state quota seats separately for counselling.We expect candidates to register through the website, choose and finalize their preference of colleges and courses, and follow the seat allotment rounds, which will depend on the candidate’s rank category, seat availability and reservation rules.

Candidates for the allotted seats have to appear in their respective institutes within the prescribed limit to confirm admission.Applicants must register online, choose their preferred colleges and courses, and then lock in their choices. Seat allotment will be done based on your NEET UG 2026 rank, category, seat availability and reservation policies. Candidates who have been awarded a place will get it only after visiting the respective institute in person within the time limit prescribed by the admission rules as confirmation of their acceptance.
Counseling schedule was awaited
It is understood that the MCC is yet to issue the proper counseling schedule, but the MCC is likely to release the complete schedule very soon. Candidates are advised to check the official website frequently for registration, election selection, seat allotment and reporting dates.
Seat Matric for NEET UG 2026
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has shared the MBBS seat matrix ahead of the medical counseling process for the academic years 2026-27. According to the latest data, a total of 136,939 MBBS seats will be available across the country, out of which 63,296 are government and 73,643 are private university seats.This is a total increase of about 1,022 places compared to last year, providing medical students with more opportunities to enroll in various medical schools. The seat matrix also does not include Institutes of National Importance (INIs) such as AIIMS, JIPMER and PGIMER, which conduct admissions through their own separate method.
NEET UG Counseling Process
The MCC counseling process mainly consists of round-based seat allotment, with the addition of missed vacancy rounds if seats are still vacant.MCC advice basically consists of the following:
- Online registration and payment of counseling fee
- Fill in the options and block your preferred universities and courses
- Allotment of candidate to seat as per NEET rank, reservation policy and availability
- Verification and admission of documents
- Participation in follow-up rounds if a candidate is eligible
Candidates should have all necessary documents ready for verification eg NEET UG 2026 Score Card, Admit Card, Class 10 & 12 Certificates, Identity Proof, Category Certificate (if applicable), Passport Size Photographs etc.
Who can participate?
Those who have cleared the NEET UG 2026 exam and fulfill the eligibility criteria that have been decided by MCC and the institutions participating in the program can expect to join the counseling process. Admission of candidates will be based solely on merit, reservation rules, availability of seats and preferences of candidates presented while choosing their options.
