Banking Personnel Selection Institute (IBPS) will close the registration window for the recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) and Specialist Officers (SO) 2026 tomorrow, 26 July 2026. Eligible candidates who have not yet applied can complete the application process by visiting the official website of IBPS.The recruitment drive is being conducted to fill 6,715 Probationary Officer and 745 Specialized Officer vacancies in the participating banks.
IBPS PO , SO recruitment 2026 : Eligibility
For the posts of Probationary Officer (PO), candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. Applicants must have a valid mark sheet or degree certificate at the time of online registration and must mention their graduation marks while filling the application form.For Specialist Officer (SO) positions, the educational qualification depends on the position applied for. Candidates must refer the detailed notification for further eligibility requirements.
IBPS PO, SO Recruitment 2026: Selection Process
The selection process for the recruitment of a Probationary Officer (PO) includes a preliminary examination, a main examination and a personality test.The preliminary exam will consist of 100 questions carrying 100 marks and will be conducted for 60 minutes. The main exam will consist of 170 questions of 200 marks with a duration of 160 minutes.There will be negative marking in the objective tests. One quarter (0.25) of the mark allotted to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer, while no marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.For Specialist Officers (SO) Recruitment, candidates will have to appear for Online Preliminary Exam, Online Main Exam and Interview. Those who qualify in the preliminary exam will be shortlisted for the main exam. The final selection will be made on the basis of the marks obtained in the main examination and the interview.

Application fee
Candidates belonging to General, Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories have to pay an application fee of ₹850.Candidates from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Reference Disability (PwBD) categories have to pay ₹175.Application fee can be paid through debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI.Candidates are advised to complete and submit their applications before the registration window closes on 26 July 2026 to avoid last-minute technical issues.
