A significant number of CBSE Class 12 students opted to revise their evaluated answer books after the 2026 board results, reflecting a growing demand for transparency in the examination process. The Center informed the Rajya Sabha that nearly one in four students who appeared for the Class 12 exams requested scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets, while thousands also sought verification or reevaluation of their marks.The details were shared by Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary in a written reply to a question raised by Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav Mandadi.
Almost 4 thousand students requested scanned answer books
According to data presented in Parliament, about 17.69 lakh students appeared for the CBSE Class 12 board exams in 2026.Of these, nearly 4.04 lakh students (about 22.8 per cent of all candidates) applied for scanned copies of their assessed answer books after the declaration of results.In addition, over 1.68 lakh students, representing around 9.5 per cent of the total candidates, requested verification of issues noticed in their answer books and/or sought re-evaluation of their answers.The figures indicate that a considerable number of students opted to use the post-result facilities introduced by the board to better understand their assessment and seek corrections wherever necessary.
CBSE reduced post-result fees to encourage access
Explaining the steps taken this year, Chaudhary said that CBSE substantially reduced the charges for post-result services so that no student was deprived of the opportunity to check their answer sheets for financial reasons.He informed the House that the board issued a notice on May 17, 2026, introducing a revised fee structure for these services.With the new fees, students were charged:
- Rs 100 for a scanned copy of an assessed answer book.
- Rs 100 for verification of observed problems in an answer book.
- Rs 25 per question for revaluation.
The minister said that the reduced fee structure was introduced to make the post-result process easier and accessible for students.
The reassessment fee will be refunded if the grade increases
The government also highlighted another student-friendly measure introduced this year. Chaudhary claimed that candidates whose marks increased after the revaluation process were given a full refund of the revaluation fee.The measure was intended to ensure that students were not financially burdened if an assessment error was identified and corrected.
Focus on transparency in the evaluation process
The large number of applications for scanned answer books suggests that students are increasingly making use of the transparency measures available after the declaration of board results.Providing access to graded answer sheets allows students to examine the marking process before deciding whether they want verification or reassessment. The revised fee structure and refund policy were introduced as part of CBSE’s efforts to make these facilities more accessible and fair.

The CBSE Class 12 board exams for the academic session 2026 were conducted between February 17 and April 9. The board declared the results on May 13, after which students could apply for various post-result services, including getting scanned copies of answer books, marks verification and re-evaluation. Data presented in Parliament highlight the extensive use of these facilities by students after the results were announced.
