Deepak Deon reveals what inspired the film
Speaking to ETimes, director Deepak Deon shared the thoughts that inspired him to write and direct ‘PRIVATE’.He said, “PRIVATE” comes from a great concern about the decrease in the space of freedom of speech and human rights. I have always been dismayed by how powerful systems can slowly control, stifle voices, and make people believe they are powerless. PRIVATE is my response to this. “He added, “This film is not just a story, but a reflection of the world we live in today – where interrogation control can be dangerous, and silence is often wrong and peace. Through this film I wanted to explore how thoughts and feelings affect such control of ordinary people. I believe that cinema has the power to provoke thoughts and start conversations and this film is my attempt to do that.”
